Phase III
Phase III is approximately
4-6 months in duration.
Phase III is considered the maintenance phase of the Drug Court where separation and
individuation is said to occur. Participants are seen by the Drug Court Judge and their Drug
Court Counselor on a less frequent basis, usually somewhere between every three weeks,
possibly every four weeks. Random drug screens are occurring on a twice a week basis
still, along with continued weekly attendance at self-help recovery meetings.
Participants at this level are said to be in the
"give-back" portion of their recovery. Requiring less monitoring,
trust increases with the program,
participant's behavior is self directed, and community stability is observed.
At this point participants have:
- Completed primary
treatment
- Completed aftercare
- Up to date with
program fees, and fees in general
- Integrated the
information they have learned in treatment and in the Drug Court
Program
- Abstained from
Alcohol and other mood altering chemicals
- Gained personal
skills of tolerance, impulse control, delayed gratification, abstract
thought, and the locus of control is now a balance of self and others
- Been stable
in recovery and social/occupational functioning
- Completed GED
- Completed community
service hours, if required
- Driver's
License
- Full time
employment at approved job as well as verified through check stub
Participants in
this final phase of the Drug Court are preparing for their commencement
ceremony.
