Treatment

After completing an Intake/Orientation screening appointment at the Drug Court Program Office (occurring typically within a week after plea), each participant will be assigned a Drug Court Counselor. The Drug Court Counselor will perform or help arrange, with the aid of the participant, a Drug and Alcohol Evaluation. Once complete, the Drug and Alcohol Evaluation will be forwarded to the Drug Court Treatment Coordinator.

The Participant, along with the Treatment Coordinator, will review the evaluation and appropriate substance abuse and/or mental health treatment services will be assigned. The Treatment Coordinator, in making treatment recommendations, will take into account many factors: location of treatment provider, transportation concerns, i.e., bus route, walking, family or friends transporting and the related cost just to name a few. The participant then calls the treatment provider to make an appointment for screening, and when a date is confirmed, calls the Treatment Coordinator and the Drug Court Counselor as to the date and time of treatment appointment. Once participant secures a treatment start time and schedule of treatment regime, participant informs both the Treatment Coordinator and his/her Drug Court Counselor.

The Treatment Coordinator continuously tracks the participant's progress throughout the course of treatment and informs the Drug Court's case review team, at the time of reviews. The Treatment Coordinator tracks the participant's progress or lack of progress for the duration of his/her treatment involvement.

The Treatment Coordination at the Drug Court office relies heavily on both private and public treatment agencies in securing such services for the Drug Court clientele. All local/referred to treatment providers are licensed and utilize qualified licensed professionals to dispense treatment services.
